BURNA Boy & Wizkid continues to trailblaze for Africa as their albums are rated as 2 of the best in the world in 2020.

Many didn’t think that after the massive success of ‘African Giant’ his last body of work which dazzled and pleased the world, before the release of ‘Twice as Tall’ his latest offering, that Burna Boy would still serve it so so hotšŸ”„immediately. It was a question of would he ever be able to meet the standards of African Giant? Or that has he already done his best album already? So are we going to start to witness some kind of decline already?

With African Giant, the world took notice and responded with a near Grammy take home, which was eventually won by the deserving veteran award winning music star Angelique Kijoe, who in a show of extraordinary magnanimity & humility acknowledged Burna Boy’s new miss. So after that disappointment, many had thought Burna, who many lovingly refer to as ‘Oluwa Burna or Odogwu’ may not be able to immediately reprise the act/album.

But alas, the release of Twice as Tall took all by surprise!

The album upon release immediately hit the ground running. Picking up from where African Giant had finished off and even elevating the standards many notches up. It was a body of work that spoke solidly. It cemented the status of Burna Boy as an outspoken voice of his generation. A voice with many followers for that matter. All the songs addressed one thing or the other and in the style of the super outspoken and uncompromising one, in the person of the one and only Fela, but yet still infused with Burna’s own flavour or better still signature.

His particular collaboration with ‘Chris Martin’ in ‘Monsters you made’ was evocative of that outspoken nature of his. And so were the other songs and the whole album immediately became a hit and got critical acclaim like African Giant and the world immediately took notice and another ‘Grammy nomination’ came knocking and was announced.

Back to back for that matter!
Is this going to be a trend?
Would he win this time around?
We don’t know yet. But he has already signposted by his 2 last body of works that he is amongst ‘the world most recognised music stars of Africa,’ especially from Nigeria and he occupies a special place amongst all.

So ‘Twice as Tall’ by Burna boy is part of only 24 albums made by African stars, that the renowned and award winning lifestyle magazine “GQ UK” has rated as part of the “best album of 2020 that made the year tolerable”.

And talking about the incredible Nigerian world star aptly named Starboy, that’s talking about ‘Wizkid the incredible’. It has been an incredible year for the young dude on the world music scene no doubt.

He only released his 4th studio album titled ‘Made in Lagos’ in November of 2020, after he had just been releasing singles for a long-while.

It is one body of work that was so eagerly awaited and lapped upon by his fans, rivals and all. And it didn’t disappoint at all! This is one album that can be rightly tagged hit after hit, back to back to back. And to show how much his fans had wanted to hear from him since and how much they appreciate his talent, the new album got a 100m plus stream in just a month!

Which is quite remarkable!

It has been rated has ‘his best album yet’ and in fact the most international yet too. And if we can say it, it’s a badass mix of the best of many genres brought together with exceptional fluidity and like Wizkid has always been commended, his vocaling has remained top notch all through the years and his confidence is always evident in his delivery. With awesome features/collaborations with the likes of Ella Mai, Damian, Skepta, Burna boy and even the gorgeous Tems just to mention a few. This album was definitely done for the international market, but still selling the best of Nigerian, African flavour. A 14- tracker of a banger is just how we can simply describe this Wizkid’s offering.

These duo of top Nigerian or better still African stars (giants) Wizkid & Burna Boy have continued to place the continent on the world map musically, fantastically and we are so happy about it by all standards.

It’s so obvious that there’s something they (meaning the stars and their teams are doing superbly well) and the world has taken notice and we salute them.

Kudos boys!!!!
