The devastation known to the world as Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic claimed another victim this weekend, this time around it’s a cousin of the 2nd wealthiest Nigerian and the 5th richest man in Africa, Dr. Mike Adenuga, GCON in the person of CP (rtd) Yomi Onashile.
It has been a devastating week for the man some refers to as the ‘spirit of Africa’, as he only just lost his doting big sister Madam Margaret Afolasade Akande on Monday as she passed away on her 80th birthday. While Mama Akande’s death was a natural one in that she died of natural cause, Mr. Onashile’s death came as a result of the ravaging pandemic that has locked down the nations of the world and ravaged many souls already and still counting.
The deceased had been at the isolation center in Ibadan, Oyo State since January 24, 2021 after he had tested positive to the dreaded virus, getting all the required attention so he could defeat the virus. But alas, death instead came calling and he had to bid the world farewell prematurely as he succumbed to its bite. He died at 10am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 just 6 days after he took ill.
He was a commissioner of police in Abia, Oyo, Ekiti and Lagos before he retired.
May his soul find rest.
