The shocking news about the ‘untimely demise’ of Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, a woman leader of the APC has rented the air causing more grief, even as the APC is still mourning their disgraceful defeat in the hands of PDP’s own Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke in Osun State. It’s like the death has rubbed salt into the party’s injury.
The sad and painful occurrence happened today, Sunday, July 17, 2022 after a protracted battle with the terrible cankerworm known as cancer.
The highly influential APC woman leader was a member of the highly influential GAC which is the abbreviation for ‘Governor’s Advisory Council’ of Lagos, in fact she’s the only female member of that illustrious council. She’s been prominent for a long time now as it concerns the politics of Lagos State. She was a Commissioner under the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu where she was in charge of the Women’s affair and Poverty Alleviation ministry of the State for 4 years between 1999 and 2003.
She was also a top women leader in the state and by extension also in the South West, she was appointed as an Executive Director of the NSITF- ‘Nigerian Insurance Social Trust Fund’, an appointment by the President, General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd. The very warm socialite was 66 years old having been born on February 5, 1956 to the Tinubu-Meredith/Laja family, before she succumbed to death today.
She’s survived by her darling husband Adeyemi Nelson, a retired high ranking civil servant and their 3 kids and many other extended family members.
A wonderfully accommodating and very giving woman to the core.
The Lagos State Governor’s spokesperson encapsulated her virtues while announcing her passage thus-
“We lost a dear soul to the cold hands of death earlier today. May the soul of 0the late Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, former Southwest Women Leader of the @OfficialAPCNg Rest In Peace and may God grant her immediate family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this loss.”
She would be greatly missed by all.
May her dear soul find rest.
